ABOUT US

The Lismore House Hotel, the first purpose built hotel in Ireland, was built by the Duke of Devonshire to provide guest accommodation for Lismore Castle and began serving its customers in 1797.

Many famous and interesting guests have frequented this Inn during its long history. Major Henry Eeles, a well-known scientist of the 18th century resided here for a time. The author William Thackeray also lodged here when he visited Lismore in the early 1840’s. (With thanks to the Lismore Mochuda Development Co. Ltd.)

Today, 210 years on, the Lismore House Hotel, has been completely restored and refurbished to retain the glory of it’s Georgian old world style and charm and reflect the heritage of Lismore Castle and its surrounds.

The restoration and renovation of the Lismore House Hotel has been carefully overseen by its new owners Richard Evans and Basil Good, of the Isaacs Hotel and Hostel Group in Dublin and Cork. Lismore House Hotel is now operating as part of the Isaacs Group.

The new professional and energetic team are a friendly innovative bunch and come not only from Lismore and the local area, but from all over Ireland with a sprinkling of overseas colleagues to lend a cosmopolitan air.
